M.A. Brown
R4,523 Discovery Miles 45 230 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The first complete reference dedicated to the full spectrum of women's imaging topics "Women s imaging" refers to the use of imaging modalities (X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI) available for aiding in the diagnosis and care of such female-centric diseases as cancer of the breast, uterus, and ovaries. Currently, there is no single reference source that provides adequate discussions of MRI and its important role in the diagnosis of patients with women's health issues. Thoroughly illustrated with the highest-quality radiographic images available, Women s Imaging: MRI with Multimodality Correlation provides a concise overview of the topic and emphasizes practical image interpretation. It makes clear use of tables and diagrams, and offers careful examination of differential diagnosis with special notes on key learning points. Placing great emphasis on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), while providing correlations to other important imaging modalities, the comprehensive book features the latest guidelines on imaging screening and includes in-depth chapter coverage of: * Pelvis MRI: Introduction and Technique * Imaging the Vagina and Urethra * Pelvic Floor Imaging * Imaging the Uterus * Imaging the Adnexa * Imaging Maternal Conditions in Pregnancy * Fetal Imaging * Breast MRI: Introduction and Technique * ACR Breast MRI Lexicon and Interpretation * Preoperative Breast Cancer Evaluation and Advanced Breast Cancer Imaging * Postsurgical Breast and Implant Imaging * MR-Guided Breast Interventions Providing up-to-date information on many of the health issues that affect women across the globe, Women's Imaging will appeal to all general radiologists especially those specializing in body imaging, breast imaging, and women s imaging as well as gynaecologists and obstetricians, breast surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, and MRI technologists.

M.A. Brown
R1,197 Discovery Miles 11 970 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Case study details the right way and the wrong way to successfully develop and market a new drug

Beginning with the untimely death of a young mother, "A History of a cGMP Medical Event Investigation" unfolds a fictitious case study that captures how unchecked human flaws during the development and launch of a new drug can lead to disastrous consequences. Moreover, it illustrates how and why Six Sigma principles and methods should be applied to fully comply with FDA regulations at every stage of drug development and commercialization.

From initial transgenic mouse studies to the FDA fatality investigation, this case study introduces all the key regulations and practices that govern the development, manufacture, and marketing of a new drug, including: FDA Investigational and New Drug Application ProcessesFDA Code of Federal Regulations' current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)ISPE Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP)

Readers will also be introduced to a variety of managers and researchers whose personal agendas conflict with best practices and therefore compromise the safety and effectiveness of a new drug product. Throughout the case study, the author offers tested and proven practices and tips so that these human flaws are not translated into drug product flaws. These practices and tips are critical and typically can only be learned through years of experience working in competitive drug development environments.

"A History of a cGMP Medical Event Investigation" is ideal for students in biotechnology, pharmacology, engineering, and business management as well as professionals in biomedical and drug development. All readers will discover what can go wrong in developing and bringing a new drug to market. Most importantly, they will also learn how to apply Six Sigma principles and methods to ensure safe and effective product design, development, and manufacturing.

Ecce Deus - Narrations from Nowhere (Paperback): M.A. Brown Ecce Deus - Narrations from Nowhere (Paperback)
M.A. Brown
R695 Discovery Miles 6 950 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The state of Caeles is an intriguing phenomenon that has emerged sometime in the Earth's future. It is the very realization of a sort of hellish heaven, for there is an entity that is much akin to omnipotent, much akin to omniscient, and much akin to omnibenevolent. However, these three characteristics are what make it more threatening and more ominous, and its actions shed light on the kind of distance and indifference such an entity would have toward its adherents, which are, in this case, the 'citizens' of Caeles: the not too distant descendants of Homo sapiens sapiens who are called, under its lordship, Homo Subsidium. Its objectives are solely its own; it cares little about those it utilizes to accomplish those objectives, i.e., humanity. The technology the world possesses at this time is beyond magical, and this entity, being an innovative child of such technology and of certain beliefs entwined in that technology's usage, is quite unlike any miracle ever wished for. The book consists of narratives from a part of its realm, and the narratives are a series of modest descriptions of the powers it employs, the inhabitants it possesses, and the ends it wants. The very abstraction of a passive observer who is, more or less, unaffected by the 'surrounding' world is no longer valid because of the entity's complete dominance of every stream of information or consciousness it encounters or detects; hence, the stories are told from a perspective that can be effectively called nowhere, given that they could not be told, in any coherent form, from anywhere else within Caeles. Enjoy the experiment in undesired perfection.
